Every time I join the other ladies in my community to read from the Megillah or leyn at my local partnership minyan, I am thinking of my daughter.  I see a future where she will have choices and it gives me great hope. More importantly, I want her to see me actively involved in Orthodox Jewish life and want to be a part of it too, proud tosee her mother standing up there in front of other members of her community. My own mother introduced me to feminist values from a young age, taking me along to women’s tefillah groups and encouraging me to learn to sing Anim Zemirot – in many ways the catalyst for thoughts, opinions and actions to follow.
